Match Day Events
Check out FIXTURES for forthcoming matches.
We will only inform everyone when the match arrangements are different to those listed in Fixtures section. We will not be texting and e-mailing arrangements every week. If your child can't attend please give Karel as much notice as possible. Please don't leave a message with another parent.
We will be assuming everyone is playing, and expecting everyone to arrive on time unless we hear otherwise.
Each ‘match’ consists of 2, 7-aside games, played 20 minutes each way.
We need to enter 2 full teams into each ‘match’. If we field less than 5 players in a game (ie we only turn up with 11 players) not only do we get ‘thrashed’ but the club is fined.
A player cannot play in both games (this includes goal keepers).
On the day we are expected to provide a list of substitutes to the referee before the ‘match’.
A substitute is only recognised as a ‘player’ when he plays. Once he has played, he can’t play in the second game. If he’s named, but doesn’t play in the first game he can still play in the second.
For this reason it is important that we give our support to the substitute positions, and that everyone turns up on time.
Again, please give us as much prior noticeas possible if your child can’t play.
In the league points are awarded for each game, 3 for a win, 1 for a draw, and 0 for losing. Each weekend a team can earn up to 6 league points.
In the cup the scores from the 2 games are aggregated. Equal aggregate scores after the 2 games will be decided by penalties.
Most matches (apart from re-arranged fixtures) start at 10.30am on a Saturday. Goals are deducted for late starts, so we all need to be there on time.
Away Matches
For away matches both teams will meet at Coronation Road at 9.30am for a 9.35am departure. Because of the goal deduction we can’t afford to be late, so we will leave on time. For the sake of time, and our duty of care to the children, if your child needs a lift, could you arrange this with us before the day. Unfortunately we may have to turn down a lift if you don’t. Please don’t hesitate to ask us, in advance! If your child does get a lift please make sure you’re at the pre-arranged collection point on time.
If you make your own way to the ground we expect you to stay with your child, and not leave them with us, again, unless this is arranged in advance.
Home Matches
For home matches we need everyone at our ground no later than 10.00am.
Kirkham Juniors home ground will be at Maryfields (in between Morrisons and St Michaels Church) and Newton Juniors home ground will be at Coronation Road. Clubhouse ‘type’ facilities for Maryfields are next to the Tennis courts at the end of to the Morrisons car park, and the facilities at Coronation Road will be available on match days (we are hoping to gain access to the kitchen area).
Help for Home Matches
There’s a lot to do in preparation for Home fixtures. We need to:-
White the lines (for Maryfield matches)
Assemble and dissemble the goal posts
Set out the corner flags
Deal with, and pay, the referee
Look after the team (and our own sons); and
Meet and greet the opposition
As a result we need the help of at least 2 adults at each match, before and after the game. We would like to set up a rota for the season. Please help make this easy for us.
What to & what not to wear while playing
Shin Pads – please make sure your child is wearing shin pads. If they’re not they won't be able to play
Jewellery – of any kind is prohibited by the league and the FA
Footwear – please make sure your child is wearing appropriate footwear. Again, if they're not they won't be able to play.
Kits – your child won't be able to play without a full kit
Track Suits –We would like everyone to wear a club track suite. These are available from the Kirkham Juniors website or through one of us.
